When a fire develops in a building structure, it’s crucial that the fire stays where it is, and the load-bearing structure remains intact for a sufficient amount of time for evacuation and rescue operations to take place. While no building can be truly fireproof, using fire-resistant construction materials simply delays the fire damage.
So, the aim is to prevent tragedies by constructing a building in which a fire takes effect slowly. Our MagMatrix MgO and Mag Fire Rated Boards are designed to do just that. They have an A1 fire insulation rating, which classifies them as non-combustible.
MagMatrix boards are characterized by fireproofing, flame retardance, damp proofing, environmental protection, and heat preservation. Having passed the criteria of the Testing of Fire Building Materials and China National Center for Quality Supervision, the flame rating and fire performance of these boards have achieved relevant national standards.
Capabilities of fire-resistant construction boards
The high heat absorption and low conductivity, combined with low shrinkage, ensures that the temperature on the other side of the board remains low for as long as possible; this maintains the building’s structural integrity.
Fire-resistant boards are used in several applications, including fire barriers for:
· Encasing electrical cables
· Secondary linings or encasements for protection of the building’s structure
· Compartmentation of buildings
· Smoke extraction ducts and ventilation
The Mag Fire Rated Boards fulfill the same function in every application. With a fire rating of up to 120 minutes, these boards keep the heat and fire locked up and avoid the fire from propagating through the building, especially on load-bearing structures. This gives people time to escape, for rescue services to intervene, and for safety-critical systems to keep functioning inside the building.
Magnesium Sulphate Technology
MagMatrix uses Magnesium Oxide Sulphate technology to produce Magnesium fire-rated boards and panels. The advanced MgSO4 formula offers high tensile strength and density that’s ideal for structural applications like exterior and backer boards, floorboards, cladding and basement materials, and Structural Insulated Panels.
Fire resistance levels
MagMatrix Mag MgO Sub-Floor Board is not only classified as A1 non-combustible but when applied in combination with a floor system, it offers FRL 120/120/120. This Fire Resistance Level (FRL) is the grading period for three criteria: structural adequacy, integrity, and insulation.
This means that the MgO boards maintain structural adequacy for 120 minutes, integrity for 120 minutes and insulation for 120 minutes.
